I know a couple in Queen Creek who started a steel erection company in Phoenix in 2006. Maybe there's some synergy here or maybe they could just share horror stories. They are are outstanding people. Their son was a Navy doc in Iraq and we met at a Gold Star Family dinner quite a few years back. PM me for more details.

Interesting. They are about an hour and a half drive away, so we likely dont travel in the same circles.

I do not think that is the intended purpose
It sounds more like sun shade framework for plants
They are currently using a trampoline frame and just want a dup

This reminds of a customer asking me if I could build him a hand control motorcycle. Absolutely I said. How much? He asked. Nothing I replied. He said you would do it for free? I said no, I wouldn't build one for him at any price. Can I build you one? No problem. Will I build you one. Not in this lifetime. That was in SoCal and I didn't want the liability for something like that. I used to make some one off stuff for the motorcycle cops but I didn't want to get sued making a production run of it. Strictly cash, no receipts, I've never seen you before, etc.
One of my cops looked at a radar/lidar gun holder I fabbed up, and asked if he could copy it. I said, no problem, just be aware that if somebody crashes and gets harpooned by that thing you will be sued to death. I guess he didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out because he started making them. Good for him

I'm curious. You guys that build stuff. do yall carry insurance and does this insurance not cover everything you build? I see similiar comments on several different welding/fab sites is why I ask.
I dont build things but have rental properties and farm properties. I carry a blanket liability policy for $2Mil. its cheap. @$500/year and it covers me for all liabilities, even driving.
Some years back my wife was involved in an auto accident, she rear ended a family sending them to the hospital. We were worried about losing everything so we looked at several options and met with our attorney, CPA and insurance agent. They all said the blanket or umbrella policy was our best bet. Their advice was to insure up for more than your net worth. I just figure the premium as a cost of doing business.

When I was a politician I carried a million excess liability . When i got out I dropped it .Suing is a major business . You can almost always find someone to take a case .

There must be zillion of them, I can thing of 5 or 6 that advertise on the local TV all the time . Between Lawyers, Car salesmen, and Drug companies, there isn't much on TV any more. :-)
