Soon you will have a trailer for every vehicle. Then you can start adding hitches to the back of them and start hauling tandems!

Warmed up a bit today (58)F so stripped off the axle hubs and cleaned up all the bearings, seals and spindles. Bearings had sticky spots due to small dis in the spindles. Spent an hour with a small mill file and some 240 grit. Bearings slide on good now. Seals were installed backwards. All bearings and seals were in good condition. Set the bearings and all should be good now.

Explain the idea of backwards seals. This was common practice on S-cam seals on trucks. It kept grease off the brake lining and let excess grease ooze towards the slack adjusters But one faced in and one faced out ?.Are you running grease one way ??

These seals had a ID to fit the spindle and a OD that had a 1/8" flange lip that fit in the hub ID up agianst the bearing race. If I had them out I could have got the P/N and a pic. I had not seen a seal design like this before.

Nope. The vertical section goes outboard at the top of the seal and goes into the hub. The seal installs on the spindle not the hub like most do. The seal brand was National.

Too Bad you or some of the other guys are not close to me Chris, I have several axles with brakes and a couple of new bulldog couplers laying in the scrap pile... don't plan on tossing them but figure someone will eventually come along and have a need for them one axle is a 3500 and the other is a 4500 and I believe I have the drums for them too...

Had a plan to make a low deck MC Trailer but since my bike caught fire I've pretty much given up on a lot of things as the future doesn't hold much promise here for future projects other than the last one I have to finish I'm obligated too once this project is finished, I'm retired prolly for good... and plan on relocating somewhere other than Texas...
