If you haven't tried this type of disc I highly recommend it. I tried one just yesterday to remove some paint and rust and it worked great. I would recommend trying not to grind the edge of a plate, it'll just eat it up. But flat areas and pipe, etc. - awesome.

I like the knotted wire wheels. Not too expensive and pretty good at general cleanup and slag removal. The only thing I don't like about them is some start to shed wire in use. I have removed several wires harpooned into mÿ skin from them.
