Heating and cooling my 1000 sqf living space
I guess I better decide how I'm going to heat and cool the living space in my garage. I had a local HVAC contractor out and gave me a quote. 6-10k depending on what units I chose. But looks like I need around 3 tons cooling and 35,000 to 40,000 btu of heat. My living space is about 25x40 with a 17 foot cieling. About 300 sqf is a open loft. Two rooms below that are my bathroom and laundry. I'm leaning towards going with a package hvac unit. Propane for heat. Only thing I'm unsure of is can I run my ducts in the space between my ceiling and metal roof? I've got about 8" of space to work with. I'd have 2-3 runs like this. The rest of the supply registers would be in the soffit in the picture. Walls will be standard fiberglass insulation. Ceiling I plan to insulate with R30. When I pulled my permits I put myself down as doing the HVAC.
