![]() I had the wheels for years, I knew they would be useful one day. The rest were scrap pieces of which I needed only four cuts on the saw. The plan is to C clamp the beam to the dolly while the end overhangs the trailer. I will then lift the other end with my tractor loader and roll it up hill into the shop. I’ll report on how well it works or doesn’t after I use it.

So you have 300 +/- Lb on each wheel, Looks like it should be reasonable. :-)

I took that picture moments before I posted. I was careful to not rotate the ipad during the process. I don't know why this happens with such frequency.

That will work very well, as long as the wheels roll. I had something similar at previous job. Most of the tine I didn’t have to clamp the beam to the wheel cart, but depending on what you have to roll over, would not hurt. Only used it when I had to get beams longer than 30’ in the shop. Under 30’ the jib boom we made for the forklift worked very well.

Here is a rigging that uses the tractor loader on the opposing end. This works good for heavy loads or rough/incline terrain. For level/smooth surfaces the dolly could be placed near the middle of the beam and rolled by hand.

It would have been better if I had provided a bit more clearance under the saddle. Because of the low ride height I must be selective on the size of C clamp used and it must be placed on the leading edge of the saddle, otherwise they will scrape the ground.

Turn the saddle up to TDC and clamp the beam in place , that should clear most things in your way . that is if you are going to use your tractor as the power / driver.
Looks great and you don't have to air the tires up before you use it, what's not to love about it. Joe |
