When making incorrect statements.

Tapping is either a cutting or a forming operation, and very different lubricant should be used.

Hey Shade, at work we use WD40 to mount tires with also And I know that's a no-no. But the shop Franz insists that we use it because of steel rims rusting using the water based stuff.......I think that guy was there when they poured the foundation

Something more important than the right lube is using the correct tap drill first, unless you have deep pockets and lots of spare time.

Multiply what I said by two if you are tapping a very expensive part..

I personally use Tap Magic only because it was given to me in quantity. I would definitely go with Shades advice in this area if I run out.

Free is very often (not always) good. Like the story about the little ladies in that bar in Thailand, ohhh I don't want to bore you with the details......

Shade, what bar and what year. I've had many missions in Thai bars in two tours. May have lifted a few together and shared the same...never mind.

May '91 Phuket (sp?) anything past that is a blur... I only had one night of liberty and it was the last port before San Diego, CA......

But 2 and a half months in drydock in Subic Bay prior to that had its benefits, oh did I mention we were the only ship in Subic at the time......

'91 was ten years after I retired so we didn't get stumbling down puking drunk together. My two tours were inland at Udorn. Had orders to Phu Kat but was diverted to Udorn. LBFM's, a mans best kept secret.

The only boat at Subic! You don't even have to say any more.
