Just curious. All the horizontal stud bracing. Was that code, or you just did it to make walls more stiffer and better suited to add shelfs later?

Is there plans on interior wall sheathing?

The horizontal bracing was used due to the walls being 12' tall so decided to do the bracing. No codes here so build what you want. The interior walls will have R19 insulation and 7/16 OSB which will add to making the walls stiffer. Ceiling will have R30 insulation and covered with 1/4 of 5/16 OSB. His bracing spacing is not at uniform heights so will not be much use for shelving. Advised him to build free standing shelves so he could move them around at a later date as needed when he fills up the shop.

Welp, the plan to do gable end trim today went to shit before we got done prepping the tin. It got too windy to be on the roof. We had to cut angled ends and drill for the roofing screws.

So we switched to doing the east wall 12' tall garage door trim boards and reinstall the door seals. Next 2 days are too windy and snow coming so a couple days off for me.

Likely start building walls for the apartment in another week or so. Only 8' tall walls so easy to stand them up by hand.

Went to the son's shop today and finished the west end roof gable trim. Still have to do the east end roof gable trim. Then the roof ridge cap and the roof will be all finished. Also wired in his welder to the Main box with 6 gauge 3/wire with ground. 75' of wire ran him $325. Also checked and 4x8x7/16 OSB is back up to $52.

That's extreme. I just paid 52 bucks for 6 sheets of 1/2" G1S plywood at Homeless Despot. Which is $40.71 in your money.
I can see the copper being high, even scrap copper is going high, and whenever this war is over the reconstruction cost will drive copper higher as well as cement.
I try to buy bargain price electrical wire when I find it. Sometimes I sit on it for a few years.

I see your OSB board going for $55 here, today

That blocking is called fire bars out here. It was in the regs, but I don't know about now. It was needed in the balloon framing days when they did not use insulation. It prevented a fire on the bottom floor from going up like a chimney to the top floor between studs.

FYI: From the receipt of purchase at HD 2-23-22

* 1x2x8' strip (from the website today) $2.20ea
* 1x3x8' strip $3.30ea
* 1/2x4'x8' (4-ply) sheet $51.95ea
* 1/4x4'x8' (BC sanded) sheet $44.72ea

As I'm looking at my receipt, I'm realizing the lazy cunt at the register charged me for eleven 1x3s when I only got one and ten 1x2s. So that's $11.10 I was overcharged! It was bad enough a "normally" $250 bill ended up at $450!

Some still call them fire blocking here. It does give some added support horizontally for high walls and the high winds we get here,when sandwiched between inner and outer layers of OSB.

The trucker convoy up in Canada was the cause of this current rise for OSB, since a lot of OSB used here comes from Canada. Price is down $10 a sheet now that the truckers are rolling now.

Was down to -6F last Friday night and the son's RV froze up the water lines. His wife Elisa said they were getting a newer 4 season RV, so they stopped in this morning for showers and took the missus's 4wd Durango to Fort Collins to shop for RV's. Heard back that they found a couple they like. Said they will be back tomorrow. OOHHHH the joys of owning a RV.
