![]() Regardless of teeth or planet count there should be a universal way to get the highest gearing output: example power in through sun gear, out through planet carrier. Anyone know? PS - I don't want to stack multiple planetaries and want a 1:20 ratio or ideally as high as possible. I'm using it for a project. |

Here is an example of a 1:20.

on the planet gear carrier. It is the most reduction, the smaller the sun gear and the larger the planets the greater the reduction ratio.

In my winch the planetary is 1:157. What they did is they cut the ring gear in half. Half the ring gear stays locked and the other half drives output. I want to avoid cutting the ring gear in an expensive planetary gearset but it seems it's probably the only option to get that crazy high ratio. |

!:20 is not a high reduction?

from what I understand 1:20 is ok, 1:30 is recommended, but I want over 1:50 at least, ideally 1:100 or higher. I don't want it to ever jam up unless the gears teeth sheer off. |
