Carburizing furnace

Good day all, we have a 1950's vintage carburizing furnace at work that is in need of a rebuild, obviously it's quite expensive to rebuild it and the fact that it's probably much bigger than we need it to be has me wondering if a newer smaller version would make more sense. Looking for some contacts in the heat treat business, wondering if any of you has info to pass along. Carburizing isn't real popular so not a ton of options come up with a google search.

Furnace seals via a sand seal on the lid, heats up to 1700F degrees then the carbon is introduced. Assuming the heat removes the oxygen, I am not the operator or a scientist, I just fix it when it breaks

I don't care about the seals, I asked a specific question.

I don't know much beyond the basics of what you are working with. My knowledge of case hardening involves putting the part in a can of powder and bringing it all up to temp together, or sometimes for a thinner finish there are special quenching agents.

I think they would have anything you need to reline what you have, or build a new smaller shell, but doubt they can offer any insight into your particular furnace as the guy that started that business was predominantly into making knives.
