I knew I came to the right place with my sob story! Next time I’m in the shop and motivated to mess with it I’ll open it up and snap some pics of its innards, maybe you fine gentlemen can walk me through what to remove or bypass to make this thing actually work!

If you have access to a dump you can find many battery chargers that have been hurled out because the blinky lights quit. They are free and the can be re-wired. I have a nice unit 12/24volt with 200 amp boost purchased this way and I chopped out the electronics and selenium rectifier pack and replaced with large diodes.

The scrap yard is another good place but you may have to pay a dollar or more. Often there is nothing wrong with equipment like chargers. Stuff often finds its way there because it is in someone’s way.
