![]() My nephews wagon was 11 years ago and I can't find any pics. It was made with angle iron and was very heavy. I used tubing this time and cleaned up my design a lot. Its insanely overkill for a kids wagon, but that's how I tend to build things ![]() The wheels are from harbor freight and have a 300 lb load rating, they have bearings in them with a 5/8 inch bore and they're surprisingly inexpensive. The tubing is 1 inch, 14 gauge square tube and all of the pivots are 1/2 inch tube and round stock. The handle is held on with a pin, so they can take it off if they need to fit it in a car or something. The bed is red oak. I didn't originally intend to make it that elaborate, but I screwed up and didn't buy enough wood so I had to come up with a way to stretch it a little bit. It turned into a long night of spreading glue and shooting pin nails. I have some more sanding to do, and then I will finish the bed with light walnut colored danish oil. The frame needs tabs welded on to bolt the bed down, and then it will get a rattle can paint job. I'll have more pics as I work on it. I'm also trying to get some last minute leather orders done that are coming in.

That ought to last a long time. Your niece can use it till she gets too big, then pass it on to her kids.

If she gets into downhill racing you better add brakes & liability insurance.

Very Nice build. I remeber when Radio Flyers were made with wood, maple I think.

Gee, I wish I'd of had an uncle like you when I was a kid. :-)
Is that "Ackerman" steering? None of that simple "turn the front axle" bit for a real high class wagon. :-) "A little red wagon painted Blue" comes to mind. :-) ...lew... |

At this point it wouldn't be that hard to add a steering wheel
![]() Lew I didn't do any calculations for ackerman steering, but I suppose its close. That design is a product of me spending hours and hours loading hay wagons growing up. I never liked it when the front axle turned and the bed lurched sideways on a sharp corner ![]() I haven't figured out what color for the frame. I have a stash of free implement paint from a store that changed vendors, but I think the black is all gone. It might just end up IH Red.

I think they call that ABS - Anchor Brake System
