So initially I spent a bunch of time and made new console wiring harnesses, a mid section harness and a rear light harness..


Interestingly the console is hot all the time with 12V going to all the gauges and switches..

I have never seen such a thing.. Was very confusing.

I also installed LED combo lights for the rear lights.. White and red.. Currently only have the white connected.

I also replaced all the glow plugs with ford 7.3L ones and just rethreaded them 3/8X24.. they work a treat.

Nice work. You should be warm and toasty this winter.

I've never heard of that before. What were the threads before and what was re-threaded? The head or the GP themselves.

Rethread the GP.. They are 10mm which is just a little bigger than the 3/8"..

The threads clean up completely and look factory. The 7.3L ones have different tops but the spade terminals just slide right on the top.

That makes sense now.

1/24 x 25.4 = 1.058mm

So a 10mm x 1.0 thread was re-threaded to 3/8-24 UNF. Very clever. They are so close that the strength lost re-threading (cross-threading?) is negligible.

I have heard that a 3/8-16 will thread into a 10mm x 1.50 threaded hole but not the reverse.

Wouldn't fly in aviation, but we are not flying.

The originals were completely toast. The IH ones were like 120 for 6 vs 65.00 for a package of 8, 7.3L ones.

No cross threading and the threads are completely clean to the eye.. Might be some left over metric threads if looking under a microscope or magnifying glass. but to my eyes with bad vision, they look perfect.

LOL.. I haven't flown since the last time I went Rally driving in the old SAAB..

Here is some video I shot yesterday..

I love seeing all 4 wheels turning.. It's so slick and sloppy but this machine did well.. Didn't get stuck and it moved the pile so much easier then expected.

There is no level gauge for bucket level and the very bottom of the cutting edge is worn away in the wrong direction.. So will have to put a level gauge back on.

So at some point I'll have to weld on a new cutting edge.

Sweet work! Before I'd mess with the IP, I'd pull the injectors and have the pop pressure and spray pattern checked. There is a place called diesel injection service near me that does it for free. Might call around and see who near you does it.
