If I don't find a factory cast door to use then I will fabricate one out of 1/2" plate. So that'll provide lots of material for threading a hole for the pipe cap draft vents (I like these as opposed to the horizontal slide style).

I will also mill out a channel around the perimeter of the door to recess a rope gasket.

This is on a maple syrup boiler so don't necessarily need viewing glass although some fancy scroll work with the plasma cutter sounds intriguing
Try doing a search for wood stove kits or stove kits you can find a factory door plain or fancy and a kit for around 30 to 100 bucks for a whole stove kit....

Maybe by August, we'll be able to take our woodstoves offline ... I'm now down to burning green wood!

MD, no need to get that fancy.
I have made them with 1/4" plate, and welded a piece of 1/8 x 3/4" FB around the perimeter at right angles for a lip. If you want a gasket groove then tack another piece of FB on the inside laying flat with a 1/2" space to the outer lip.

But having never boiled sap, maybe all you need is a door to keep the logs from falling out onto the floor.
