I made this spanner wrench at home when I was taking a couple cylinder off my back hoe to rebuild. As much trouble I had getting them apart, I figured I would just take them to work to have them put them back together. We were set up a bit better to reassemble them there. Boss was nice and I think only charged me parts at cost.

I planned on making a few other threaded in pin sizes, but haven’t yet.

That wire clip retainer looks like a super cheap design. I wouldn’t wanna claim it.
I much prefer the pin spanner design, but no reason the wrench can’t have extra pins.

The internal split-ring design sounds like a total pisser.

So the pins are just bolts you machined down? Nice.

I think it was 1/4” by 1” flat stock. Maybe 3/4” wide. I have plans to make another one. Now that I got the arc droid, I could cut a nice half round one for the swivel part.

I probably might use 1/2” bolts for the next pins. That way I can easily make 3/8” dia pins from the threads. Might be good to use Allen head socket screws for the pin material. Stronger the better.

Much easier to put a cheater pipe on this spanner.

There are ones you can buy, and they have a 1/2” square hole for driving with a breaker bar. I ended up showing the young apprentice where one of these spanner wrench was on shelf, next to him. Been here 2 years, and still didn’t know about it.

It wouldn't take much to customize one of these https://www.amazon.com/XiTuanYuan-Un...sr=1-4-catcorr

I've used "cheapie" or dull drill bit shanks as pins for spanner wrenches. Drill the hole, insert the bit in the hole shank first, weld the back side, cut/grind excess drill bit off.
