As to the air dryer, there are lots of options. I use a scavenged MotorGuard from cutter's pile. I have an inline water trap at the tank that catches most of it, the filter catches anything else at the back of the machine. Never had a problem, and have never replaced the filter element. Just blow it out occasionally and let it dry if it gets wet. Even then, in over a decade I've likely only done it twice. |

The motor guard is what I use on my plasma. I got a spare filter and just swap them out if I'm using a lot of air. My clothes dryer has a rack I can put in it so that things stay stationary in the middle(like boots) so they don't tumble in the drum. It works to dry out the filter too!

Thanks, the Motorguard is a better cheaper option than what I was looking at

Hmm the one motor guard type I used on plasma at work. I think I just got rolls of toilet paper to use as filters.

That one I found on Amazon requires a filter ahead of it and perhaps one after to catch desiccant dust that's why I was pondering converting a fire extinguisher. I was over $200 just supply clean dry air.

Looks like a roll of TP but isn't. Dont try TP, it breaks down and dicks up the works.

Played a bit with the arc droid yesterday. Just messing around with settings, and cad program. I had my young apprentice’s over and was showing them my cool new tool. I made a couple little tweaks, and then had trouble with the plasma not cutting.
Turns out I set an off delay setting too short, and when the arm moved to the next cut, the arc would not initiate due to the cooling time cycle of the plasma. I finally figured that out. Now I should go back and reread the manual of the droid again. I might better understand some of the finer adjustment details, now that I have a basic understanding and actual use of the machine. No sense in trying to learn and figure out all the little details out on my own. I still been making the little cross buttons. I tweaked the design a bit, and added a small hole for hanging on a necklace. I even did a couple out of copper sheet for the young apprentice’s. I then aged a couple with a needle scaler to make a “ol rugged cross” one. I was playing with steel, stainless steel, alum, and copper. I then made a couple key chain trinkets for my daughter and SIL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Arc droid
As I was playing with different speeds, and settings, I had a few that were not perfect. But I think they can add character to the individual pieces. I think better that no two are exactly the same will add value if I try to sell these at an art show .
The couple cross one that have a jagged edge actually reminds me of the actual wood used on the cross anyways. Now if I can figure out how I messed with the setting to produce that on, that could come in handy later on in other projects. Now I am thinking I need a small vibrating Deburr tub. The Search for more tools is on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think the 5# one is the one I use, but I got it second hand. It may be the bigger unit. Had to make my own lid because that part was gone, but I never really needed it other than to keep dust down. That's what I use for brass polishing, but have thrown aluminum pieces in just for kicks. Works well and cheap enough. The Motorguard filter worked great for me because I really don't have that much water to deal with, and since it's dedicated to the plasma it rarely gets used. I did leave it with a QD to the machine so I could use the air supply separately on other tools if necessary, but it's mounted to my welding/plasma cart. |

Thanks Wade. If marketplace comes thru and I sell a couple parts four wheelers that I picked up yesterday, I should have the cash to buy that!
