Tool holders

Made a quick wood block holder for the four most used mill holders for the big mill at work. Easy access, and can keep the tools installed.

Boss bought a digital bore gauge couple weeks ago. Have used it several times since, and is handy for checking bores. Wanted to protect it, without having to always take it apart and put back in the case, and for the most part have used it for 4” bores anyways, so have not had to change the end for different sizes.

Just put a piece of 2x4 scrap in the mill and milled a quick holder to set it in. After couple weeks, Milled half round slots in the sides to help pick it up.

All the bore gages I had at the plant were 3 prong . No not digital I always wanted dial gages . They seemed to take the environment better ,air well filled with rolling oil vapor .

Hmmm, that’s what it’s missing. Bad thing about that would be a catch all for the hot chips flying off the lathe though. Being wood, easy to blow off the chips.

Velvet lined lid next.

Modified an old store rack this weekend for adding some trays to the back of my toolbox at work to hold sample pieces of chrome rod that I use for test fits when making cylinder heads / Glands at work. I don’t like walking 20’ to coworkers supply, so am getting my own supply. Also have some extra space to fill in yet. I’m sure that will come.
I made the boxes from wood I brought home from shipping boxes at work, and scrap pieces of plywood that I saved from on construction sites at last job. The paint and blue rack came from the shop I cleaned out couple months ago, so the only thing I bought was the nails for the air nailer and glue, and a little welding wire and electricity. Trying to live up to my name.

Pretty slick!

Part of my long term intention to make new workplace as good looking, and efficient as I can, I had a little down time yesterday, so I finally opened the paint the boss got for me 6 months ago. Of course, as soon as I did, someone cane up and wanted something machined. Seems like others in the shop think I am not doing anything productive.
