I have an ancient Black and Decker that just keeps drilling along. I may try a vevor if it ever bites the dust.

I have a Vevor It works well with the Annular cutters. It doesn't have enough travel up when using the Chuck and drill bits. You either have to put it on top another piece of steel or use a stubby bit.

As you say, the problem with all the newer mag drills, especially the cheaper ones, is that they have no travel; they're only good for use with annular cutters. With the old B&D I could run a 1" taper shank drill no problem...

If you do go with Vevor, go with the variable speed unit. The single speed units are too fast for any HSS cutter over 1/2” IMHO. YMMV.

I got this one from Vevor. Have not really used it, but seems decent for an inexpensive import. It has the Nitto "one touch" shank drive, instead of the more common (and less expensive) Weldon shank. I bought an adapter off amazon to convert from Nitto to Weldon for it.

I got one, hasn’t had a lot of work but very happy with it. As already stated get the variable speed and the quick release. I got extra cutters off ebay a lot cheaper than any tool supply, they are good enough for what I want. A caution, when ejecting a cutter put a welding glove under them because it spits the cutter out fast enough to chip. I have a length of 10mm x 100 x 250 to clamp on the job if Im drilling thin material because the magnet needs mass to work properly.

i have a vevor and it works just fine,i was drilling truck frames and it worked great for that.
SZometime the slug did not eject from the cutter and if your not careful you will chip the teeth on the cutter. It was worth the money for the one job i bought it for and have "made" work for it since then. |
