Finally getting a real shop!!

Hi Chuck looks like you've got it going your way,this is first time I've been able to read about your shop been catching up.But the little deal with you and cutter on those pictures really got me hurting laughed so hard I had to take a pain pill.I just had my surgery last Tuesday,So I'm not over that just yet........Anyway I always like to read about someone getting a new shop.Its always a exciting time for the guy getting it and the ones reading about it.So keep the pictures coming and take it easy on us old folks!!!!!!

Well one more delay. It rained all day (snow flurries early this morning). High today was 38. Tomorrow the high is suppose to be 45 so they won't pour. Can't get the finisher on Thursday so the plan now is to pour Friday.

Maybe someday!!!

Warmed up today (12/23/05). They started the pour at 7:00 am. Got a few pictures before I had to go back to work. Maybe next week I can begin to put up something.

Sweet......green stuff! Very cool. I am extemely jealous now. I need green stuff, too. Very cool.

My brother, nephew, two freinds and myself started last friday (12/30/05) and worked every day except tuesday on teraing down the chicken house and we finished yesterday. 365 sheets of 3' x 23' roofing metal, 1500 10' 2x4's, 1200' of 12' 1x4's, 27,600 square feet of 2" styrofoam insulation in 4' x10' and 4' x 11' sheets, "miles" of romex, a good breaker box, transfer switch, and miles of small cable. Also 7 five gallon buckets of rusty 4" nails.

Now, Hopefully next week we can begin construction.

P.S. My wife took a few pictures sunday so I'll try to get some put up in a day or two.

Did I miss something? Dont you have to have a footing ALL around the perimiter of the slab. I didnot see a footing other than where your pilons were going. I am moving to east TEXAS, hopefully by April 1 and if the place we buy doesn't have a shop sweety said I could get 1 built. However she said I was limited to 30x40 and I said I could live with that as long as I had a covered work area outside. Good luck on your build.

Jim, I think it has alot to do with you soil type. I live in SW part of OKlahoma and have more of a red clay soil. I am not putting a footing around my shop. I am building a 40x50 and sitting a pole every 10'. I will sit these poles in the ground 3', then cement them in. Then I am going to dig 6 holes down the middle of the shop and cement a piece of 2" pipe in the holes. I will then connect the pieces of 2" pipe in the middle of the shop to the poles on the outside with rebar. Thats my plan anyways.

I do have a footing all around the slab. The picture I took was a day before it was suppose to rain and they stopped digging so it wouldn't get full of water. The footings were dug later.

Well it's been wild at work and the weather finally decided to rain once I got everything together to get started.
