To late about the reducing weight, I cut the center out a bit.

1 layout

2 cut

3 center cut

4 squaring the swivel

5 located hole for adjusting screw

laid out three holes for backing plate and adjusting screw and drilled and taped.
Went a little under size on the pulley shaft so I had to knurl it, might make a new one later
1 tapping

2,3,4 setup

Got it standing up, had a couple surprises, Drilled extra holes for spring adjustment.

You won't know till you have power but based on mine you will need more spring. If the belt vibrates or flutters you need more pull.

I can't do much right now but I will start rounding up stuff tomorrow.

Are you using variable speed? My second one is running 4200FPM and there is little vibration and metal will really disappear. I have tried the orange blaze belts and am now using Alligator back and I like them.

Direct drive, figures to be about 3400 FPM you must be runnng about a 9.25 DIA pulley with a 1725 RPM motor

Digr I have bought industrial equipment from big contract builders that didn't look that well thought out.
