Default To all Members: MIG Wire Survey

Based on some recent threads and discussions I have had with members. I think I can save some of you some money and possibly improve your wire quality.

I have secured a good source of welding wire, 70S-6 in 0.035” and 0.045” sizes. We are looking into other sizes such as 0.030”, 0.052”, and 0.062”. This is the same wire, Thermal Arc (Italian), that I am using and have discussed on here. I find it to be equal to Lincoln’s L-56 in short circuit, pulsed spray and spray welding applications. If you have MIG'd steel at my shop this is the wire you have used.

I need some information from you to see if this is feasible.

Your current or prospective…
1. Brand of wire.
2. Specification of wire (i.e. 70S-2, 70S-6, 80S-D2)
3. Price per pound or spool
4. Weight per spool (25#, 33#, 44#)
5. Your local sales tax rate (whether you pay it or not please)
6. Your shipping zip code, for shipping cost calculations.
If you do not want to post the information in this thread please PM me the information.

Below is an example of the cost analysis I am putting together.

Thank you for your assistance.

(Note: This is only for US members, I am not willing to deal with export right now. Also shipping to Alaska and Hawii is silly expensive, but those of you there know that already.)

Ok, I'll bite.

1) Pinnacle in .030
2) 70S-6
3) $1.25/#
4) 33#
5) 8.25%
6) 78163...but then you already knew that one.

FWIW, I just called in and got these numbers: Pinnacle S-6 in .035 = $1.03/# in 33# and S-6 in .045 = $1.12/# in 33#.( They don't sell much .045 it seems.)

Wish I could participate, but anything bigger than a 5# spool bogs my machine down

I'll get back to ya after I get my new machine and get the bill on the first batch.
