Default advertising for new business venture

I recently started a medical repair business, one that specifically targets Chiropractic tables. I have gone to the local businesses and shook hands while dropping off a card. I have gotten over 70% of those customers to bite and hire me to do their repairs and maintenance. I am still doing a day job so driving over an hour to larger surrounding towns to advertise face to face isn't feasible. I just bought 100 postcards advertising my business and plan to mail them over the weekend to areas within a couple hour drive of home. 1. how effective do you think snail mailings are anymore? And 2. what other ways do you think would be a good way to advertise? I have high hopes for this venture as to the best of my knowledge there is only one other chiro repair place in the state and everyone that I have had contact with is not happy with his work or reliability. Thanks all for any advise!

Since you are just targeting Chiropractor repair mostly, you need to get a list of Chiropractors.

What part of Michigan? I’ll have to check with my Chiropractor. Maybe there is a Facebook group of them.

Are you planning on fixing upholstery too? I know my office has a worn table. Not up my alley, but if it needed something mechanical, I probably would get the repair call.

Why just chiro tables? Why not other structural med equipment? What specifically are you repairing on them that breaks? Good gouging to be done servicing med equipment. These "specialty" companies charge about what the Dr. charges...

Like it or not Facebook and a website will do you more good than just about any other form of advertising these days. Face to face works good too but as you've pointed out it may not be practical as you expand your geographic range.

That said, if you're having really good luck with your face to face contacts closer to home it might be worth your while to make targeted trips to specific cities or regions. I can tell you right now if you're "connecting" with 70 per cent of your contacts you're already way ahead of the game. I know a lot of advertising reps who would be ecstatic if they got that kind of response...

Med field has continuing ed classes. maybe look at advertising at one of those. Sponsor a lunch, snack table. anything to get in front of a crowd. As the local guys where they go for CEs.

Facebook appears to work well but you have to play the game correctly. Make a business page, join any targeted groups that will let you in etc.
I was posting a lot of my work on facebook and have a core group of about 75 people that react to every post, but it never goes any farther unless you tag someone outside of your circle that has a lot of friends, or can get your post into a discussion group or something that gets it in front of more people.

This is precisely why I chose a generic name (Maurer Medical Repair) because I didn’t want to limit myself to just Chiro repairs. Chiro is where I wanted to start because I have been doing them locally for several years now and it’s the market I know. Would love to get in with some hospitals repairing their beds/equipment!

I have already made a FB page, joined as many chiro groups that will let me in. Even paid FB to promote my page, this got me a call from California and several other out of state dead ends. Trouble is how to filter just chiropractors, and only in MI, haven’t figured that one out yet. Most chiropractors are using broken/worn out equipment, after I go through it they are blown away by how much better it performs lol! Just have to figure out how to get my name in front of them, very confident that my prompt professional service will earn their repeat business.

Should be able to get a list from the state licensing board for those that are able to practice .
