I’ve used O/A to preheat aluminum when needed. Makes for slow going, but maybe it will let you get it tacked together enough to get it mobile again.

No problems LW, seems like everything cost's three times what I think it should, out here 35 feet past the end of the known world. (A lot of folks, mostly progressive politicians, think Floriduh stops just south of Trampa)

Oh it's tacked and clamped well enough to set it back on the truck and drive it to a place to finish it.

I'm setting the slider on today, to find final resting place and try the bed for size. It's still missing one piece, cobbled up from 3 drops, 'cause I can't find any 4 inch X 3/16 web channel, but I won't have that one in hand 'till mon. or Tue.

Regardless, we press on.

But yeah DCEP is what you want to run for solid steel or aluminum wire
and pure argon for shielding gas, 20-25 cf/h flow on the gas.

Clean up all your aluminum with a clean stainless steel brush right before
welding.

Good luck, because you are going to need all you can get.

Funny. I quoted this post and it said DCEN when I first read it, and looked at it again before quoting. Somehow though, it changed to DCEP when updated to this reply. I think someone edited their typo.

I just checked the sunbelt website and you can rent an XMT 304 power supply which does CC or CV, for $84 a week. If your borrowed spoolgun would play nicely with that, you might be better off than hiring it out still.
