2017 SFT Get together Chit chat thread...

So it is that time of year and we need to start planning our annual Get-together.
Bill (Windy_Acres) and I had a short discussion today, and included my SWMBO.

Prospective weekends are:

May 6th-7th

May 27th-29th (Memorial Day)

Memorial Day gives everyone an extra day for travel, but a lot of people have
standing family obligations. Mrs. Windy and Mrs. will be colluding whichever
weekend so they don't care either way.

Any thought from the peanut gallery.

BTW the 14th is Mothers Day and the 20/21st is going to a lot of Graduation ceremonies.

Memorial day weekend works for me. I have FD training planned on the 6th, but if I know soon enough I can either move it or get someone else to run it.

Are we doing a project this year?

Same place?

I'd prefer the 6-7th weekend but it's not a deal breaker.

I think we should have a boolit casting/loading seminar.



I have no formal training. I did read about it on the net though......

My plan is to get the log splitter design done. So it is on me this year.
My plan is to have the design done by the end of this month, then we
can scrounge the materials from there.

I have in mind a dual ram, double wedge, double acting splitter in mind.
So it splits on both the left and right strokes.

I think we can do that, but to be honest buying cast lead bullets at SNS is
almost as cheap as buying lead to cast with, but just so you know how to
in case you ever need to, not a bad skill. It is easy but can be tedious. I
"know a guy" who can build you a lead pot controller on the cheap.

Since when does "you can buy it cheaper" ever stopped a Sft'er?

I know a guy too. Fortunately he's on my side. Unfortunately he is an enabler.

I was going to ask why you would want to work so hard, then it hit me - child labor is prevalent around your place. Lol

Guess that means we'll need a certain SA from the Ozarks!

I don't think either one would make a difference to me. Work will complain about either date I try to take off, but priorities have to be met now, right? Lol

I hope to have a new bench rest built before the GTG, in the event anyone wants to bring long guns to shoot bench rest. Ive also got a Lead Sled that will accommodate AR pattern rifles. I can also help any one dial in a scope if they need to ( need to know the caliber ahead of time ).

Hand guns, and anything else that goes boom is welcome.

Ive been working on lighting the property, this year, there should be lights in the building those camping have been using, as well I will power in there for whatever as well ( charging stuff, laptops, or ? )

Brian, if you are coming, the dog that gave you shit last year when I was not present, well she is no longer running her own campaign of rough shod over guests, she is now resting in her own plot, on the property. Old age caught up to her.
