![]() The main frame is 3/8 square bar and the top arch was bent cold with a set of pins in my vise. The leaves and vines are all hand forged from 3/8 round bar. They were fit up using a mix of the jig in the vise and scrolling tongs with a torch. I'm going to have to dig out the stud finder when I hang it up ![]()

I like it! You could wall hang it, or use it like a little bookshelf and just leave it on the floor.

Her criteria was a wall shelf that would slow her cat down from destroying her plants, so I will have to find a way to make the wall hold it...and maybe hook up an electric fence charger

If you know what a french cleat is, may be a good application for one. If not, worth looking up.
I’ve used them for heavier shelves and such and they work well. And you only need to mount the cleat, then hang the shelf after. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Did quite a few french cleats when I worked at the cabinet shop. That may be the route I have to go.
My main concern is finding studs to attach to. Its a thrown together suburb house. When I built their gas fire place, I had to run a chase up to the vaulted ceiling. What would be considered the first floor wall had fairly normal spacing, when you got above 8ft there was a couple spots where they were 30 inches apart ![]()

That looks really solid. I have done a little of that, but just with a torch. I have never had a forge.

Tract homes are built as cheap as they can get away with, I refuse to say they are built to minimum codes. But on a more upbeat note nice work, really nice.
