![]() Its a steal at $1000 Have to ask what wrong with the lathe Just maybe all the dials are all calibrated in metric (maybe both mm/inch). Maybe it has a weird spindle mount. Maybe some stripped gears and can no longer get parts (call some of the links that were posted and see if they sell parts for the lathe) Now just by looking at the pictures, once an ad is placed It would not last an hour before a person with a truck buys it and picks it up. A deposit will likely not work as someone will offer more and buy it out from under you. We have to ask why so cheap, Look for hair line cracks in the bed maybe around the spindle bearings, oil-leaks around the gear box. If there is nothing wrong with the lathe you have to get it NOW.

See if you can get a deal on it's brother Well

Agree with LKeithR, that lathe in my area at that price would be sold in a flash!!
If it isn't baffed out, and it must have some tooling with it, i'd grab that! |

I've got 3 phase power in the shop, so thats not a problem. Good feedback on stuff to look at, I'll see what I can find out, and see if I can seal the deal.
Thanks for the input guys! |

That's a heck of a deal, especially since it appears to have a name brand QCTP on it. As stated above, the QCTP is worth almost as much as they are asking for the machine, especially if it's an Aloris. Check the ways and all of the speeds if possible, also check for excessive backlash in all of the lead screws.

A lot of the Taiwan built machine tools were built to a very high quality standard...
worlds above the chicom built stuff that comes out of the mainland factories... that lathe looks like one of the good ones.. I would grab it... ![]()

I have a mid-70's "Victor" 1640 lathe which was built in the same town in Taiwan as that one. Mine has a lot of similar features to that one, and mine has been a very good, reliable machine,
