Default what are these

I got given a box of farm stuff for putting into a gate, can anyone tell me what they are and what they are used for? I think they are parts of a horse drawn plough.

Don't know the correct terminology, they look like part of the rigging to hitch up a horse or two.

Top one I believe is called a hame, it would be used in pairs, and go up each side of a horse collar. Not sure about the bottom one.

I'm glad to see at least one other person recognizes a Hame . :-) The fancy ones have a brass knob on the top end. As to the second one it MAY be a butchered up hame for some other purpose. Farmers are great at "modifying" things. :-)

I’m likely one of the few here that have harnessed and driven a team of draught horses though Lew!

Looking at the bottom one I suspect it is also a hame, depending on sizes, top one is usually the style on a draft(work) horse, bottom could be a standard size for buggies etc, or even as small as a pony size.

Some are all metal, some are a mix of wood and metal.

Definitely a hame. I suspect the smaller one is from a home brew harness for a smaller critter like a donkey or maybe an ox or something with less of a neck than a horse.

Thanks for the answers, the long one appears to be wrought iron, it has rusted along the lines of old anchors where the grain and layers of forged iron look like wood layers. There are two each of these plus a box of assorted things that I haven’t looked at yet. I will either use them in a gate or a wall hanging, I’m undecided yet, have to stew on it for a while although my choice is a gate but my son in law says that rustic wall art sells very well at the markets, it will certainly be easier than digging post holes to hang gates which I’m not very keen on.
