That is about what the used anvil market is like around here.

I delivered some hay to a place once that had about a 200lb anvil painted black and sitting against the front of the barn like a decoration. I almost offered to buy it and then noticed that they had been using a cutting torch on top of it

Anything not trashed folks are like "new anvils run $7/lb and this one is an antique with 70% edges so I want $9/lb minimum"

Thats a nice set up. I like all the tool holders on it. I need to add some of those to my stand for the JHM.

Wow, that’s actually pretty cheap! When I remember how much design and build time I put into making my gas forge, plus materials… I couldn’t build it for that price. I wonder just how cheaply made it is.

I have seen those and they are very tempting. At the very least I would have to rebuild the floor to be firebrick with a lip so that I could put shoes in and still be able to grab them with tongs easily.

A portable forge from the horse shoeing supply is about $600. I could scratch build one over a weekend, but I'd definitely buy one of those and modify it before I bought the farrier forge for $600.

The best item I made for shoeing was a shoeing stand.. I'll have to take a photo.

Has several thousands of shoes shaped on it.. About every 3 or 4 years I had to weld the cracks back together.

I would step on it to make it quieter but I used it for everything.

Up to a size 3 or 4 StCroix eventer it worked really well. Not so good with draft shoes.. But then again not much is.

My new draft cross has to have handmade wedge shoes and he was very quickly becoming the death of my stall jack (16 inches of 3/8 by 1 that I bump the heels and draw the toe so that the branches end up a half inch thick). Honestly cold shaping his shoes on the 70lb anvil is no fun either, a portable forge to keep at the farm is probably in my future.

Just received the 2 burner one, still have to put it all together. Did spray with rigidizer (not included), now for it to dry then refractory, install burners and away we go………..
With my schedule it will probably be 2 weeks, but will report back
