Update - things should be much better now; made a deal with my ISP to let the servers sit at their place until the new microwave link gets setup. Once we get that done the servers will move back so there will be another brief interruption of service, but in the meantime things should be smooth sailing.

Was wondering what happened; things are screaming fast today.

Nearly 200,000 match tickets were bought in the US, which comes as some surprise given that "soccer" is still way behind US sports in popularity. The next biggest market was Argentina, a long way behind, followed by Germany, England and Colombia, according to Fifa.
The US fans are here, they are visible and so loud that they draw puzzled looks from locals and other tourists alike.

On non-game days, you will hear the American accents in restaurants up and down Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, but when the US team plays, the streets are filled with stars-and-stripe Speedos, red and blue Mohicans and continuous chants of "U S A! U S A!"
It should be the World Diving Cup. These guys fake so much they could go acting in Hollywood in a heartbeat, and all this time I thought the best divers were in hockey.

New link has been up since just before the 4th and no problems so in the morning I'll be moving servers back where they belong. There will be a little downtime while I move them, but then things should be back to normal.

This is good in several ways.
Most importantly, the damned World Cup will truly and finally be over and FIFA can go the hell back to wherever they came from.

I'm meeting with my ISP to retrieve servers at 9am CST. Best guess the whole process will take about an hour.

You realize will be hearing the "Deutschland Uber Alles" for the next year.

When I lived in Germany, the local football (soccer) stadium was about 2 miles from my house. I knew the score from the crowd cheering!

Everything is back where it belongs and things seem to be much better now. Moving servers finished up a while ago, total down time was only about 40 minutes.

For those who are/were interested I've attached pictures of both ends of the microwave links.

I know we're not the only ones occupying your spare bedroom, plus your house is probably a lot like ours where EVERYTHING has to have the internet in some form or fashion.
Thought I'd answer this with a final answer via a few images.... note the test server location in each instance.
