Default Not a good Week For Equipment

It was not a good week here in the sunny south in my house and today I found out my compressor for the last 14 Years decided it didn't need to provide. I have used it often and never tried to over work it if I didn't need to but non the less it isn't working currently. I have very little knowledge about specific electric motors and this one has me set back to research first before doing any type of troubleshooting.

I have done all checks (yes I pushed the reset button) to ensure there is power to the motor to the point of the connections shown at aircomp2.

Help if you can!

Do you have the proper voltage to the pressure switch? Is the motor getting power?. Are all connections and wires in good shape? If yes to above its likely that the motor is cooked.

Does it smell burnt? Does it hum when you power it up?

Take the belt off and try spinning the motor in the correct direction, then apply power while spinning. See if that does anything

IF it is a fried motor, check the unloader before installing a new one.

If I am understanding you, you have power to the wires in the second picture.
If so I would check the capacitors and see if they are good. Also check the centrifugal sw the contacts could be burned off but I am not sure if this motor will have one though.

What's the HP ?
What voltage is it ?

If it's 240 volts try resetting both circuit breakers.

It might be the pressure switch. It "thinks" it is at full pressure and doesn't want to turn. :evil::evil:

Remove the belt and try and run the motor. It could just be the start caps.

Tommy, some years ago I thought I had lost the old motor on my 50 year old table saw. Took it down to my favorite motor shop, Wayne blew the sawdust out of the starter switch and laughed at my relief.

So, try that.

Clean the contacts on your pressure switch, check to see of they're burnt, etc. Use a voltmeter to see if you're getting power through it.
If that doesn't show you anything, you can try direct wiring your motor - with the belt off.

I get 122 volts at the motor on both posts so the switch is working. It is 230 Volt motor however I'm not sure of the HP. If you notice there are two covers on the top of the motor that I would assume are for a starter capacitor but would you have two? To check a capacitor would you just look for continuity at the wire connections?

I turned the pump belt to see if there was a bearing seized in the motor but it seemed to turn freely so I don't believe that is a problem. There isn't a burn smell and I have a large enough nose to make that test with considerable certainty.

There isn't a hum when the power is on. It just acts like it is dead as though it wasn't getting power.

Taken off the www. on testing start/run caps on electric motors of single ph. 220 vlt motors.

One should be a run cap, the other the start cap and would be the most likely to cause your problem, but the run may also, depending on how it is connected. If your meter is capable of testing capacitors, put it on the uf scale and read across the terminals. A capacitor can usually read + or minus 10%and still be good.
