Default trailer troubles

I was backing my trailer up to a job and saw some smoke. Apparently the positive wire from the break away battery chafed through the insulation. It was also a poor ground where it rubbed through, so instead of a big spark and burning the wire away, or blowing the 40 amp fuse, it simply heater up every part of that circuit.
Had to replace both sides of the trailer connector, as well as the front half of the trailer harness.
I use the trailer wiring boxes, so the rewire was fairly straightforward. Used the same 7 wire cable, the colors all match.
Other than not wanting to do it, it went pretty easy. I am using crazed barely wiring connectors with 3M adhesive lined shrink tube. Also using a ratcheting crimper. The connections are very strong, and I have not had one fail yet.
