Not really an option at first look.

I do plan on looking at the electrical control box(es). Part of the issue is there are two sets of controls, one for the feed motor, the other for the hydraulic pump to drive the rotation of the bar.

I want to see if I can add in an indicator light on the feed gearbox, making it easier to make sure if it’s off whennit should be. (The hex was sheared off when it was left on and bottomed out the toolholder.) The other option, though more involved, will be to see if it can be powered through the hydraulic unit, which could then be setup to only power the feed when the hydraulics are running.

What kind of drive does the DC motor part have? I do not know what kind of machine you have post name, model and serial number and if you can post a repair manual with an electrical schematic we might be able to at least put a relay in or something so the electrical part won't come on with out the other part.

Barring all that have a look and see what is driving the DC motor. It may have a pot to adjust the amp loading on the machine. If nothing else turn the amps down so if it does bottom out it will trip the setting on the amps and stop trying to turn.

If you have a picture of the control unit and the connections it would be handy.

Is it like the one Kurtis uses on the youtube cutting edge engineering?

If it is 2 totally different controls it might make this easier. Or not.

Will see what I can dig up, this is all Climax Machine tools equipment. Not sure if the schematics are online, but I know there’s copies in Fort Mac.
