Well at least the tractors with the front wheels off the ground have "steering" left by individual braking on the rear wheels. The other idiots are just plain STUPID. :-)

I'm torn between two winners The lowboy with a 70-80 thousand lb. chunk of rock getting stopped by the trackhoe boom and the pinhead picking rocks in front of a straight truck with damn near as much weight on it

You just know some of those have done that more than once, and they were prepared for it. That’s what makes it so stupid.

Somehow the concept of overloading never got through to them.
I am torn between the motorcycle logging trucks and the motorbike with the whole tribe loaded on deck.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge here. I'm thinking that many of us would be doing something similar if forced to live in a different environment. I know I would.

There are plenty of behaviors that most of us are likely to engage in that in my opinion qualify for a Darwin Award. How about driving at high speeds with little space in front of you or contaminating our environment to the point where every source of water is suspect or eating foods that aren't found in nature. What about medicating ourselves unnecessarily or integrating computers into our lives and relying on the news reporter to prepare us for the day? There are more for those willing to examine their behavior more closely.

I tend to agree. Western society has evolved to a high level--at least in some areas--and we've learned to use machinery safely and to our advantage. Over many, many years we've developed rules and guidelines which allow us to use that machinery as safely as possible.

Developing countries, on the other hand, are relatively new to the machinery thing. To them they're a whole family of new tools which allow them to accomplish a lot more with less effort. They just haven't developed the sense of safety and the awareness of load capacities that we have...
