Default Holy Shit Batman - Coromill 245

I was browsing Amazon and ran across this screaming deal...

Quote:
Sandvik Coromant COROMILL Carbide Milling Insert, R245 Style, Square, GC1030 Grade, TiAlN Coating, R24512T3MPL,0.156" Thick, 0.055" Corner Radius (Pack of 10)

Sold by: Amazon.com Services, Inc

$52.64

Condition: New
These generally go for $230 for a pack of 10 and I am in need. As I only
have one insert left for a 3 pocket cutting. BTW, I love this mill does a great
job for facing material in the Bridgeport. I have the 2" diameter version.

Yup, screamin' deal. Fifty two bucks wouldn't even buy three inserts up here.

Have you got a link? I'm interested in the geometry of the cutter. I have 3-4 older insert facing mills 2"-3" in size. All are older technology and none work all that well in a lighter, bridgeport style machine. Even though my Taiwanese mill is nearly 1000 lbs. heavier than your average Bridgeport I still can't take very heavy cuts. I'm always on the hunt for a good free-cutting, low power face mill...

When I was actively buying inserts I found most of the stuff I needed on ebay. I'd put in an auto-search string that would alert me anytime a new listing popped up for the ones I used and abused. Ordering from distributors was insane! Plenty of times I'd find a pack that had 2 of the 10 missing for $20 or less, when the actual pack would cost over $180. I still use the same inserts but since I've given up the CNC part it seems to last a long time.

I'm okay with that.
