House Foundation

Really interesting methods for a house foundation. A shit load of rebar and very labor intensive concrete work and some really interesting pilings.

We had a company rep from Fontane build a new house in Holland . It took 108 80 foot trees from Germany for pilings ,then concrete build up like this .Joch must be pushing 80 now if still alive .

and two; wish they had shown putting up and taking down the forms .

There is no bottom in that hole. They have to create enough friction in the piling to keep the pad from sinking .

Actually it reminded me of your new house and it's pilings. Your method was much faster.

Number of years ago a friend with a trucking company was hauling load after load of 12” thick styrofoam. I asked what it was for and where it was headed. It was being placed under house foundations in a wet area near Ottawa. I always wished I knew where, so I could follow up and see what happened after some time.

When I was back in WA near the coast, a neighbor put in 6" Styrofoam, then plastic, then 4" of pea gravel in his crawl space. It stayed dry for the next 8 years. H used an adhesive on the edges.
