Here are the roller hangars that the pipe sits in under the bridge. After installing the hangars, you thread a cable thru all of them, and attach the cable to the pipe. I made an end that was tapered into a point, and the cable was put thru the hole in the pointy end and attached inside the head to a steel rod. The head is then welded to the pipe being pulled across the bridge.

Yikes!! I had not looked back there. b-footn, you had 1597 hits on that thread before you took the grinder to it. That's a real good indication that there is plenty of interest in those pictures and in the subject matter. Now I hope I don't piss you off , but please post your pictures.

Ditto!
We all love pictures.
In Florida, where we're at. we have very sandy soil. I've dug up sewer lines, with no trench box in an emergency. But I had a hell'eve wide hole, with a slope that would meet "ADA Requirements for a wheel chair ramp" .

Here's a pic of Scott relieving himself on the pipe under a busy road. I was in the shore box and couldn't help but grab my phone and snap the shot. I printed it out, and sent it to the office for the giggle factor among the office employees. I caught a little bit of heat for doing it though.

Random pics of the recent job. The 12" was cut out of the way, and here is the pipe ready to go in the clamps. Minimum distance for a "pup" weld is stated as no shorter than the diameter of the pipe, in this case 12".
