Default Canadians Will Get A Kick Out Of This...

An old Eaton's welder on Craigslist tonight. Eaton's has been gone for years and it was years before that when they stopped selling stuff like this. Looks to be in pretty nice shape but they're asking 500 bucks for it which is pretty steep for an old buzz box. I seem to remember that these things were made by Century.

It's not very far from me though.............maybe I should go have a look.............maybe...

Sure looks like a Century. The Montgomery Ward Powr-Kraft 230 looks identical. There is a 295 Amp version.

That thing probably sold for $200 (US) new.

That is the same price I had in my head after looking at the pics.

$500 is a little steep; but, you get TWO helmets with it.

I wouldn't give more than $150 for a 230 Amp AC welder of that category.

I have a Miller Dialarc 250 ($300) and a Lincoln Idealarc 250/250 ($350 w/ long leads). In the mid-1960's, an AC-225 Lincoln could be bought new for under $100.

Check this 1970 ad - Idealarc 250 AC/DC $292 LIST price!

Dang, I over paid for mine then. I think I bought that model for $350 about 10 years ago.
