there is a lot of professional seamsealers for sure,last summer i needed a lot for a project i have and i went over to the HAMB car website and did a search.
And just like anything else there a million reasons why not to use this or that.

But i remembered my painter buddy that worked for Drilltech painting well drilling rigs (Tamrock is now their name) and he said they caulked all seams and weldments with cheapo latex caulk.

I don't know whats best,but my small town does not have an automotive paint supply,so its latex caulk for me.

I don’t go to the HAMB since they didn’t care for Plymouth owners (and they have been known to throw things at VW owners.)

Just kidding, they only threw out my photo; but here I was mostly considering how automotive enamel works over these various things, as I assume they will all stick to bare sanded steel.

I can’t imagine shooting self-etching frame paint over latex though.

My only experiences are things like digging 40 year old sealer out of Ford rain gutters. When I was seven I helped my dad caulk a small trailer with 3M Scotch Caulk. (Now 3M Strip Caulk?) I still have his trailer and it didn’t leak.

But some caulk seeped out in the desert heat and forced paint off the joints.

I think he used Rustoleum. It was 1962. Hard to say. Lots of the paint peeled off since then.

Sikaflex! It's the equivalent of Detroit's seam sealer.

we do use that on motorhome roofs.
The roofs we work on here are steel,not the rubber roof stuff towables use.
But,i like to prime under the seam sealer,prime,seal,paint.
but what do i know?
the problem with this stuff is you ask 100 people,you get 100 answers/opinions
Like "no way would the cheapo caulk work!" hahaha!!
Most of the time i never bring it up (what i use).
