Hi,
Well....Here is what I bought for $900 delivered in my driveway.

It's about 200# so I can unbox it, put the wheels on and roll it where I need it.

I spent 2 full days running around town and here on the Internet trying to make up my mind.

Wanted to get this done as I have other things to do.

Here in Florida if you wait for someone to whisper "Hurricane" you can forget about getting a Generator local...They will be gone.

From my research, what I found is that anything in this price range is made in China no matter what is on the box.

This Westinghouse is a popular seller and gets good reviews from not only Consumer Reports but also people that actually use them.

At some point you have to stop chasing your tail and put your money down.

I've been on the hunt for one of these for a while as well. Looks like most of the information is the same as the last time I got tired of trying to guess which one to throw money at.

I keep hoping I'll come across a deal that just screams at me if I leave the decision long enough. I don't really NEED a generator but feel like I should have one.

Like I said before, if you wait till you need it, it maybe to late to get it?

I'm trying to be prepared for Hurricane Season here.

When I get the Generator, I will break it in by the book, replace the cheap spark plug, I'm sure it has, with a NGK, may even buy a better battery or have a spare, and have it ready to start up, and run for days if need be.

Of course we always hope we will never need one, but......

Yeah, should have would have! Two hurricanes back to back within 3yrs with no electrical power for 5 days each time made me glad that that I had a generator to save our food and power everything else that we needed.

If you have natural gas at the house, make sure the generator will run on it. If you have a long power outage, you don't want to spend your time looking for and filling up gas cans. You typically don't run out of NG. I learned that the hard way last hurricane.

Hah! I wish! I did have a chance to buy one of the HD red machines last year at a little cheaper than box store price. I was very tempted. In the end I decided I really didn't have a place to store the thing nor a good way to pick it up from the guy.

Fortunately we don't have too many of those up here. But we do see the same disappearing generator issues during the season. Guys will drive up, buy all they can, and haul them back towards the coast. There must be good money in it because it's a long drive.
