Hi,
Looking for a small generator for emergency use. About 6500-8000W is fine. A lot out there and I'm getting lost in the sauce! Would prefer a HONDA but to much money. Cat, WEN, Generac, ect,? Any ideas on the best cheap generator, seems a lot now are made in CHINA???

Have you considered other fuels besides gas?

You should PM "Windy Acres" (Bill) who is currently in the generator biz. He could probably advise you...

That said,... look to see if parts are readily accessible, because pretty much all of them will need it. And the price of parts, relative to what you might expect them to be. Id put my money in Honda, this is one of them, pay now or pay later deals, and given that you really want a generator to work when you need it.... China crap is China crap, I really dont think it matters much whose name is on it. The last gennie that I bought in this size was a used porter cable, for no other reason than it was powered by a Honda, so half of the problems where eliminated right there. Champion is a brand allot have " luck " with, and you can get a dual fuel in the size your shopping, although Ive not looked at parts availability, although I see them everywhere so Id hope parts could be found. If it does NOT have a brain, that is a win,,, food for thought... simple is good, if your handy find one that does not start but is not locked up, likely throw a carb at it, and you will be golden !

The Predator is Chinee but the engine is a Honda clone. I bought one (9000 watt) for the engine.

Thanks for the info! Milomilo, is the Predator "Clone" enough, to take Honda parts if needed??? I'm now looking at a Champion Inverter??? Has good reviews at least and I like the Economy Mode for fuel savings, also lighter and smaller, so easier to move around.

genset. My Trailblazer 302D is the one I rely on. But the Champion does fit a need. It is small and portable, I bought it for the hunting camper. It was cheap under $300 and when it dies, it owes me nothing at this point. I would not buy it a my go to genset.
