Well, so far searching on my phone, I've found it for $303 at the cheapest. I'm much better searching on pc, so I'll see what I can cross and find a surplus one that is more reasonable this weekend.

Which one are you looking for, the 1308 cg or the 408 M?

The 1308 cg

The 408 M

So if the size is the same(40x110x27) would there be any reason to not use a cylindrical bearing over the ball bearing? I found one for under $100 and given the low speed and stable housing, I cant see a clear advantage of staying with the ball bearing.

If by cylindrical, you mean a tapered bearing as in a wheel bearing, I expect it makes no difference. It only took me 10 minutes. The links may not be the cheapest.

Maybe you were meaning a roller bearing???

Found a ball bearing for $20 shipped!

Heres a pic of what I was talking about for reference, not tapered.

No, ball bearing. I was thinking about roller bearing, but found the exact one for 17.75 with shipping.
