There is a Paki subculture that radically customizes/rebuilds big trucks. I'm sure it's more out of necessity than bragging rights, but may have a bit of that mixed in. Either way, they make great late-night youtube video boredom. They're very fond of those drills and have some ingenious ways of using them.

I did see they do not know how to properly hot rivet. Only heating the outside shank will not get you the proper fit in the frame hole. Kinda like thier welding, half assed with lots of slag inclusions.

I try to not pay too much attention to the "how" when watching crap like that. By the end of the video they always have a finished project. I look around my shop and see a bunch of unfinished stuff laying in piles. Usually I stop because I get to a point where I know what I'm doing isn't the correct way or will end up possibly being an issue in 20 years.

You know, if the shit hits the fan like in Atlas Shrugged, the howto skills of these people will be a great source of information.
The first thing that happens when manufacturing stops, is to repair what you have and recycle scrap into something needed. As I listen to the litany of woes about the supply chain and no helpers, I think good money is going to be made for people like us who can repair things

21st century "Village Blacksmiths" you are spot on those that can carry out field expedient repairs and solutions are going to be in great demand.
