That would be my guess. You don't see that much anymore. Typically the block (or ball when single lining) are plenty heavy.

I read somewhere that the death toll could be calculated by how much money the project cost back then. something like one death per Million dollars was the norm for the time.

Quite interesting video, thanks for sharing. those carnegie beams look ridiculously labor intensive. I was wondering why the... what they called "cover plates" were so flexy when they assembled, turned out to be laminated from four layers of steel. Whereas the "wing plates" are solid.
What are they heating the rivets with? is it like an induction heater? I know nothing about skyrise construction. |
