I believe the 250 was a 2-cycle engine
My sons had both a 200 and 250 ATC (3 wheelers) The 200 was 4 cycle and much more reliable The 250 was the temperamental hot rod The quads came after the TV show |

The VIN plate on Honda 4 wheelers is usually on a sticker on the frame near one of the front suspension arms. Sometimes it's stamped into the frame tube under the engine facing out near the stator cover. Once you have the VIN, you can give it to a Honda dealer and they can tell you exactly what you have. At least what it was when it left the factory.........

I'm amazed this thing will run.
After that I got a list of parts to get it useable. Lost the one special bolt for the swimg arm bushing so that's the first thing. Starter relay....its missing Ignition switch...its broken Banjo bolt to hook brake hose to master cylinder...missing Ignition coil/plug wire. Need a new plug wire. Boot is cracked where it fits on the plug. Choke lever assembly. Missing the screw to hold it on and a spring. Seals for swing arm bushings. Dust covers for bushings. Bolt to mount shock to swing arm. As of now I've got $200 invested including purchase.

It might need a heavier piece of string to hold the rear axle on, heck, you might even move up to twine, or cord instead of string for added strength.
![]() Honda motors are pretty good little motors that seem to run for a long time.

The one thing Honda motors don't like (as well as all the rest), they don't like being run out of oil. I've seen dozens of them destroyed that way. The other method is putting the cartridge style oil filter in backwards. That'll get you some localized welding
