Observant aren't we... Extra sets of drive rolls. The machine had been a previous demo. I am guessing the by the way the wire drive was set up they were using a push pull for aluminum.

OH, that was just a general purpose you suck, because salesmen bring you welders to play wi..er, demo.

Be a pain in the butt, but why not swap the aptrol off of one of your Miller guns? Don't know what kind've plugs you have, but the miller compatible stuff I have uses a similar amptrol as the Lincoln stuff, just different back-ends where it goes into the drive assembly.

Chuck came through, he brought out the cable this morning and we spent 2 hrs getting the PM up to what the MM is doing. One thing we both learned is the Millermatic's GMAW mode is equivalent to Lincoln's Synergic GMAW (mode 21). Almost identical on how they weld. Need more arc time to tell you more.

Whereas, mode 5 on the PM 350 the "standard" CV equivalent to a traditional transformer rectifier machine has no equivalent on the MM 350P. I would equate the PM 350 on mode 5 to the MM 251 type arc but a little smoother.

I do not like the Magnum 300 gun.

So that is the evaluation to date.

Is that due to size/weight or physical design makeup?

Nice thread Ron. It's nice to have these scenarios. Especially if a member might be shopping.

Default Magnum 300 Gun

Well before the last hour and a half I would have said the design of the the gun and it's a little heavy but it is a 300 amp air cooled gun. It reminds me of a limp wrist, just way too curved. I like my ladies curvy but not my MIG guns!

After the last 1.5 hours, I will state more definitively it is a real POS!!!.

Averaged 150 cans per hour, I think I would have made around 170-175 but the nozzle kept getting out of position, stop readjust it, start welding. I have about 15 cans to rework do to porosity. It is basically a Tweco style gun and I have alway hated those too they are POS's also!!!

Overall the machine is 90% of the Miller in arc quality at this time but I have more tweaking to do.

I'm in for a shop play day again. I'm sure cousin bob would be up for it as well.
he has a jeep with shiny bumpers and "big" tires to show off.
