Default Induction Heating: the process of or any past experience

Has anyone here had any hands on experience with using shop sized induction heat equipment. Coils and power supply etc.?

We used to heat bearings and such . Worked great warm them up drop them on 4-8 inch shafting.

I don't know anything about them. I took these pictures about 2006.

This one sprung a leak and flooded everything with antifreeze.
After 20 or so years the plastic hoses crystallized and broke.

Induction casting machine.
220 volts @ 22 amps



(1) basic picture
Site glass on top and IR. temperature sensor.

(2) Closer look

(3) Other side.
White glass tube. just to the lower left a large 3700 volt transformer, maybe +35 lbs.
Center coolant line.

I removed the transformer and bench tested it.

(4, 5) coolant lines.
The pictures show outside copper lines that enter a compartment where the actual coils are housed.
I wasn't able to get a picture of the coils in the housing.
I believe they are standard copper tubing and the plastic lines that supply coolant, use compression fittings.

I seen this one go on e-Bay for $300 to $1000. weight is about 350 lbs.

Forgot to say it on the last post. We did test on Al rim and Disc where we heated the rim with a big coil and dropped the disc in rather than pressing.It had real potential as far as reducing run out scrap .We had the line speed to handle 600+ per hour but could never get the cost to benefit ratio to company payback requirement.
