Default new street toy

I found her alone, neglected and forlorn, now on her way to a better home.

1972 Ford Pinto, tube chassis, pro stock. built for a small block. Was originally a clone of the famous mid 70's Bob Glidden car.

4 link, 9 inch Ford, mustang II front suspension, up graded funny car halo cage. With all the steel parts, the roller weighs about 825 Lbs.

In a year or so, she'll be a super lite, high horsepower, street warrior. (VIN plate and title in hand)

230 mile loop to pick her up, Big Red did fine, stayed in OD all the way. (some big hills around Brooksville) Don't know the actual MPG yet, feels like 15-16.

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin,

RED

That's gonna be a quick way to get to the Illinois Get Together.

Yea Chris, the fire breathin' "Bad Cad" back up motor from the RED will jump in the frame rails and the original TH-400 from the dragster will go in too. (tall tunnel ram, 2 4 bbl.'s, thumpy cam and attitude.)

Ought to be enough to get me in trouble, as the Pinto will be a couple of hundred pounds lighter than the RED, with a MUCH shorter wheelbase.

No, just not enough money to bring home both. I'm working on a trade deal to swap the Chevett for the RED, trailer and white truck. with some spares and what not to boot. (it's a BBC and runs 7's, pure race, no title) It's a turn key nostalgia pro stock operation.

Hope and hard bargaining to rule the day. Sure am glad I recently learned to text, ROFLMAO.

What did ya have to give for it? finding anything ready to drop an engine in like that around here is pricey nowadays and to think, I sold my '68 Nova drag car back in the late '80s for 350 bucks. and now, I couldn't find a rolling chassis for 20 times that. Reflecting back on it now, I kick my self in the ass to think... If I just would have held on to some of the stuff I let go of for peanuts, Just because I was bored with it.
guess that's where the old saying comes from stupid is as stupid does...
Awesome project...

OK, I love the IDEA of touring in the pinto, but practically, Trampa or Ft. Myers is about as far as I think I can stand, without a trailer.

I'll likely use a buddy's roll back for local street races, car shows and such. We'll just have to see how accommodating the local law is gonna be...(I have done a couple of "power tour" short legs, as far as Indy, and that was a hoot.

I sold both of my street rods, for way less than I had in them, the RED is still hangin' around 'cause I won't give it away.

I had to give $3500.00 for the pinto, that was the asking price, My first offer was $2750.00, but Von kept pulling parts and goodies out of the barn, and throwing them on the truck, Brakes and gun drilled 40 spline axel's and shifter, and switch box, spare body parts, all the glass... I think I put him out of the pinto business. He has started me a pile and a box for stuff I'll need before I'm done.

Von's gonna race the Chevette this summer, with his grandson, so I might have to wait till Christmas...

And the beat goes on...
