Default Paint Sprayer for house painta

Debating about painting the exterior of the house here myself or hire it done.

This area it’s hard to find decent contractors, they are either booked up, or have to travel too far to make it worth while.

It’s a stucco house, the stucco needs some repair in places, and the colour has faded as well. We’d like to repair the stucco, and then refinish the house to freshen it all up.

Educate me on sprayers. Quick google search shows everything from under $100 to several hundred, and I have no idea what to look at or for. Help me out guys!

Rather then paint the stucco have another stucco color coat applied, it will last longer then a paint job.

Mark, any of the big box stores like Homeless Despot will rent a sprayer that clamps on a 5 gal bucket and has twin 25 ft hoses.
Also Cloverdale Paint rents them. You will need at least one bucket for a house.
I would say talk to Cloverdale about the right paint to use for concrete. They don't sell to Joe Shmuck but if you have a company(or you can buy through mine)they will sell to you.

I have 2 - 5 gal buckets of barn red oil base...

Avoid the super cheap ones. I have a $79 (think its a wagner) unit from lowes. It has 2 major problems.

The first being that it won't spray anything thick reliably. Oil based paint that you can thin easily works fine, latex and acrylic house type paints are very hard to get to go through it.

The 2nd problem is the cup on it only holds 1.5 quart of paint. This doesn't get you much painting time before you stop and mix paint again. The thing would be awfully heavy to use, if it held much more though. You really need one that is hose fed for large projects.

I highly recommend getting a sprayer similar to that pictured below. If you are just spraying the house once, you can probably get away with a cheaper knock off. If you are the kind of guy that buys quality tools, Graco is the name.

I believe the appropriate metaphor here involves a river of excrement and a Native American water vessel without any means of propulsion.

Hadn’t occurred to me to do a fresh top coat, that’s not a bad idea. It is currently a cement based stucco, not a latex version.

Will do some more research on that option.

Th HF sprayer is a darn good machine and it sprays anything you need it to
I've used one for the last 5 years to paint my friends farm house his residential home and his pool decks and allot of other things with it and has been well worth the low cost we even painted a few stock trailers with it and real nice finish too
