Totally agree, but 2 or 3 rods shouldn't render it useless. I expect that from harbor freight, but the new harbor freight ones are my best performer's to date.

So I made up my mind. I am going to be getting thick leather. I found a company on Amazon that sells 3x6ft leather welding blankets for 44/ ea. I figured 4 ought to keep me out of trouble.

I have not purchased their entire stash.....

One hint when buying them (usually 20 at a time)
Clip them to the tail of the one in front.

Walk up to the register with a "bar" of them....goes much faster.
