Nope, but please post some pictures of it anyway if only for the cultural enrichment of it all.

Default Stuck

Unit has run for years without an oil check.
Finally siezed up. Thats when I got it. Big end siezed, so removed crankshaft, con-rod etc and made good. Fitted new motor (with smoke intact) runs ok now. Don't know what to use it for, but for free I will not grumble.

Frank, what exactly did "made good" entail? Just curious.

And one thing I noticed on that rating plate - 30wt oil ???
I think Shade would wax disputatious over that recommendation. I suggest this thread for a discussion of compressor oils:
http://shopfloortalk.com/forums/show...ght=compressor

I've been running ATF in mine ever since reading that.

Mount crankshaft in 4 jaw on lathe, mount dremel on toolpost (toolpost grinder), remove burrs from crank pin. 1" dia alum oxide wheel on dremel.

Mount con-rod in 4 jaw, put small sanding disk on dremel remove burrs from con-rod big end.

Sort of delicate work.

Piston, rings and cylinder bore are in good condition, as are the taper roller crankshaft support bearings.

Blew it up to 100 psi last night (whilst standing in remote location)

The oil is currently Mobil 1 5/20 (had a little left in a jug).

Just read the compressor oil thread and am a little confused. So will probably follow Shades expertise.

I'd almost bet a whole dollar the smoke got left out of that motor cause it couldn't turn when it tryed to start the compressor.

Need some help with the compressor....

After fixing a small air leak on the safety valve fittings I charged it up to 100psi and let it sit.

Then I noticed water dripping from below the tank (very slow drip).

Could this be a pin hole? No air is escaping, just a tiny amount of water

I cracked the drain plug and only a couple of drops of water came out.

Are these tanks double skinned and the water is trapped between the two skins?
