Default How to Forge a Wrapped Eye Colonial Tomahawk video

I filmed this back in May, just had a chance to put it into video.

Its and ok video. The hardening was left out as was the final filing. It was pretty much finished forged so just made shiny for hardening.

then scuffed with an old section of grindstone so could see temper colors.

Talking is much better. That way I can listen and watch at the same time.

I've broken my word and watched that little wrapped socket hatchet 3 times despite saying I don't watch videos.
It relaxes me and this time it put me to sleep. I think its because its such a happy little thing with beautiful lines, all hand made and looks so simple and easy.

I enjoyed it as well, but find I need the titles simply from my hearing loss. I will watch all of them reguardless of titles.

The piece of rasp that you used was smaller than I expected and I really appreciate your hammer work.

Thank you for posting them.

Thanks for letting me know. Most prefer the talking videos.

No one is counting on my end. I'm glad you are enjoying the video. For me, there sure is something about watching certain aspects of the craft and one like this covers that for sure.

I'm still amazed and joyed when a forge weld takes and it then moves onto a different life/existence rather than just a straight bar.

I won't tell if you don't.

I love the titles too. I love the split-screen and titles. Sadly we are the minority as for titles.. Over the last few years. 90% of the viewers have requested 2 things.. 1 voice and 2 more personal appearances in the videos. Both of which I wanted to avoid as I wanted the work to speak for itself.

Something I have always wanted and it is not to be. That's ok though.

In the old trade axes and tomahawks, the amount of steel was even less. Out of a 14" long file, you would get roughly 28 tomahawks as only about a 1/2" of steel was used.

This is actually a rather heavy, fancy unit that could be used for chopping as it's a little heavier. Many of the old ones were light. very light in comparison.
